SYRATECH CORPORATION APPOINTS NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF INTERNATIONAL BAZAAR, ELEMENTS, TOWLE CRYSTAL AND TOPIC
Boston, Mass. (April 16, 2004) -- Syratech Corporation, one of the country's leading designers and manufacturers of home fashion products for department stores, specialty and major retailers, announces Rafael Calderon as the general manager of International Bazaar, Elements Towle Crystal and our new brand Topic. He will report directly to Alan Kanter, executive vice president of sales and product marketing.
Calderon has been a part of the Syratech Corporation throughout his career. He started years ago as the assistant to the CFO, learning first hand about mergers and acquisitions. After two years in that role, Calderon had the opportunity to manage CJ Vander in Europe giving him international business experience. He then was the director of Hallmark cards working on sourcing and manufacturing in the Far East. To further his career, Rafael attended Harvard Business School and attained his Master's degree.
As general manager, Calderon will be responsible for the overall businesses including product, managing and growing sales, developing and implementing brand strategies and creating strong brand identities.
"This is a an opportunity for Rafael to take these brands to the next level. He has shown some strong leadership qualities and we believe he is capable of growing this business," said Alan Kanter. "He is creating product that targets the next generation of consumers and introduces us to new retailers," Kanter continued.
